Company Founded

1994

Platecon Projects Ltd. was founded in October 1994 by Gilbert Leduc. The company provides design and detailing of storage tanks, pressure vessels, boiler stacks and other platework structures.

First Field Project

1999

The first field project was to install a 70’-0” floating digester cover. This involved erecting, fitting and welding components and then lifting the 75 ton fully assembled cover into the concrete holding tank.

Boiler Stacks in Leamington, ON

2001

Platecon designed, supplied and field erected industrial boiler stacks including a (2) 6’-4” dia. X 88’-0” high boiler stacks for large greenhouses in Leamington, ON.

Expansion of Services

2002

Expanded into providing storage tanks and process vessels to the steel industry. Including (2) 20’-0” dia. X 24’-0” high Stainless Steel Oxidizer Tanks which were designed, shop fabricated in components, field erected on temporary pads and lifted into final positions.

Tank Bottom Replacement

2003

Platecon performs a tank bottom replacement of a 90’-0” dia. x 48’-0” high fuel tank in Kingston, ON.

Operation Expansion

2006

Platecon expands its operations to perform work in other provinces to build:
(1) 88’-0” dia. x 48’-0” high, Eastern Passage, NS
(1) 50’-0” dia. x 48’-0” high, Calgary, AB

Project for Shell Canada

2007

Tank repairs continue to be a major part of Platecon’s work with the jacking, foundation refurbishment, bottom replacement and installation of an aluminum floating roof on a 140’-0” dia x 48’-0” high fuel tank for Shell Canada Products in Toronto, ON.

New Hamilton Facility

2009

Platecon expands its operations into a 9,250 square foot facility located at 35 Keefer Court, Hamilton, Ontario.

Large Ducting & Separator Project

2010

Platecon completed the detailing, fabrication and field installation of 300 lineal feet of 3’-6” & 6’-6” stainless steel ducting and (2) 11’-6” dia. x 29’-0” high separators. The installation was completed in two (4) day shutdowns which involved removing the existing ducting and installing the new.

Out of Province Success

2011

Platecon continues its successes out of province by completing (2) 80’-0” dia. X 50’-0” high asphalt tanks in Come-By Chance, NL.

A Focus on Asphalt Tanks

2012

Asphalt tanks are a major portion of work being completed by Platecon, with the following: (2) 100’-0” dia. X 40’-0” high asphalt tanks; (2) 30’-0” dia. X 38’-0” for Yellowline Asphalt Products Ltd. in Hamilton, ON; (2) 80’-0” dia. X 48’-0” high asphalt tanks; (2) 40’-0” dia. X 48’-0” for McAsphalt Industries Ltd. in Fort Saskatchewan, AB

Project at Pearson Airport

2016

Platecon is awarded its largest project to design, supply and field erect (4) 89’-6” dia. X 60’-0” high jet fuel tanks for the Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario

Acquired by RothLochston

2017

Platecon is acquired by RothLochston Constructors Inc.
